MAC COSMETICS HAUL

Shopping at MAC always gives me the warm + fuzzies! There's something nostalgic about the brand for me. When I first really started getting into makeup, MAC was THE brand to buy. At the time, they were really the leader in cosmetic artistry and all the rage with the original beauty influencers I grew up watching. I'll never forget my first time shopping there- I was in high school and the closest MAC counter was a forty five minute drive from my house. I remember being so excited to look at everything and the makeup artist working the counter (her name was Misty!) helped me pick out my first products which were the eyeshadows in "Patina", "Shroom", "Vainglorious" and the 239, 217 + 224 eyeshadow brushes.

I was so excited and at the time, that was a major splurge for me. If I remember correctly I think I spent around $120 which was probably most of my paycheck back then, haha. When I came home, I of course had to do a show and tell for my parents. My mom was never a MAC shopper and always use to tell me that the drugstore makeup was all the same and just as good as the department store brands... my dad told me I was "on crack," probably because I had just blown my entire paycheck on makeup, LOL.

To this day I still have all those items (I definitely don't use the eyeshadows anymore but I just can't part with my palette, ya'll- IYKYK). I also still love and use all of the brushes pretty much daily which I think should be a testament to the quality- 100% worth the money.

That trip definitely sparked an obsession and although it's not as popular in the beauty world today, MAC still continues to be one of my all time favorite brands. They still make amazing products that work and perform beautifully. The brand for me also stills has the street cred for artistry that feels a little different than some of the other higher-end makeup brands. They have always and still continue to offer so many high-performing, diverse products and shades that cater to the professional industry which sets them apart. I kind of group them and brands like Make Up For Ever in a different box than many others you can find at departments stores/Sephora.

Enough of my rant- let's go "back to MAC" with a little makeup haul today! Whenever I buy anything, there's almost always a Prep + Prime Highlighter in the shade "Radiant Rose" in the mix. For years this has been my favorite undereye brightener- it is the best! It helps cover dark circles and brighten up under the eyes beautifully. A lot of the times I'll just throw this on with minimal makeup and instantly wakes my entire face up. They offer several shades but the "Radiant Rose" is perfect for brightening, especially if you have lighter skin like me.

I've also been on the hunt for a new favorite concealer so I picked up the Studio Fix Concealer in the shade NW15.

I was also influenced to try the new Glow Play Cushiony Blush by our OG MAC queen Jaclyn. I loved this color for my skin tone, it's the shade "Blush, Please."

You can also never go wrong with any of the MAC lip liners or lipsticks! I've been wanting to revamp my lippie game so I grabbed a new liner in "Dervish" and two lipsticks in the shades "Modesty" and "Del Rio."

I'm excited to play around with these, especially the new blush! I'll keep you posted with my thoughts but if you have any MAC favorites, I want them!! Let me know what you love :) - xx.

MORE NEW SPRING BOOK RELEASES ON MY RADAR

There are so many new and promising books coming out this spring. Back in January I shared this post with a few of the new 2025 spring book releases that I have my eye on. After a little more scrolling, today I'm adding a few more on to the list. One of my goals for 2025 is to get back into reading on a more consistent basis. Once upon a time I was an avid reader and loved to read books from pretty much any and all genres. As of the last several years, that has sadly migrated into me becoming a very sporadic and inconsistent reader who mostly reads either self-help or romance.

I've been itching to not only read more books but to also branch back out a bit too so lately I've kept a closer eye on all of the new spring releases coming out + added these ones to my TBR. I also didn't plan this but today's picks just so happened to all be from different genres which is a win win. A little romance, self-help, fantasy and thrilllaaa vibes. As always I will add links for you to browse each book + will also link my entire TBR list below too- I update it pretty much weekly!

TOP 5 MOST POPULAR BLOG POSTS | 2.17.25

The middle of February has brought back cold and snowy weather here in Tennessee. We were so lucky the first few weeks- it was back in the 50s-60s, sunny and so nice out! I normally like a little bit of snow but once you get a taste of spring, it's hard to want it back haha. The halfway point also brings another blog post round-up so today I'm sharing the top 5 most popular blog posts from the last month. These are the posts that made the list:

1. SALT & STONE DEODORANT REVIEW + RESTOCK HAUL - For anyone looking for clean, aluminum-free deodorant- this is the post for you. Over the last several years, I've tried what feels like hundreds of clean, non-toxic deodorant brands. Out of them all, Salt & Stone has been the best one I've found so far. This review post shares more info on why I love the deodorant as well as a little mini haul.

2. OURA RING UNBOXING - Recently this Oura Ring Unboxing post took over as the number one most visited blog post of all time here on TheKristenDiary.com. It's been one of my most visited posts for years but never quite reached number one until the last few months. I've talked both about this post and my love for the Oura ring for years now- it's one of my favorite purchases. I still continue to wear and review my sleep/daily activity every single day. If you've been curious about the Oura Ring and whether to purchase one for yourself, the unboxing post is a great resource with lots of info.

3. REVIEWING YASSO GREEK YOGURT BARS - Another long time favorite of mine are the Yasso Greek Yogurt Bars- they are seriously so so good. I review them more in depth in this post and share my favorite flavors, etc.

4. DESTINATION DISNEY! DIY DISNEY GIFT BASKET + ESSENTIALS - I think we're officially back into "Disney season," haha. A few years back, my sister took a girls trip to Disney World for her birthday and for her present, I DIYed her a Disney themed gift basket. I shared how I made the basket in this post + some goodies and essentials that I put in the basket. Every spring the post always gains popularity when everyone starts planning their spring and summer trips to Disney! It was definitely a fun project and gift to make! I also love the idea of making a gift basket as a surprise if you're planning on taking kiddos! If you're a Disney lover or have a trip coming up, hopefully you'll find this post to be a fun read!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Happy Valentine's Day, lovaaassss! After Christmas and Halloween, VDAY is my favorite holiday. You gotta love love, no? Regardless of whether I've been single or dating someone on Valentine's Day, it's always such a fun day for me. I'm a sucker for all of the cute lovey vibes and most importantly, the yummy foods. You don't have to sell me twice on sugar! I'll be back to grilled chicken on Monday but this weekend is fair game on candy, snackies + donuts! I also couldn't resist the KK Valentine lineup this year-how cute are these? The box + presentation is a 10/10.

On a real note, I wanted to just chat and wish you a Happy Valentine's today. I know not everyone loves today and it can be tough if you don't have a special someone (and *want* one, lol) and even more so if you've lost a special someone. This week my thoughts and prayers have been with family friends of mine who lost their husband and father. His funeral service was scheduled for today which is just awful and devastatingly difficult for everyone. Life always has a way of putting things in perspective and reminding you of what's really important. I took a few minutes today to reflect on how grateful I am to be able to spend today with the people I love most. Tomorrow is never guaranteed and unfortunately we never know whether we'll have another Valentine's Day together or not.

It can be tough but circumstances like these remind me that the little inconveniences and annoyances of my life really aren't important. It's also just way more fun to embrace and focus on what's good and right now that is YOU. The real secret to Valentine's Day is that you always and forever have a Valentine- yourself. Sometimes you may be lucky enough to have multiple but the best and most important is you. That's why I always have the best day no matter what ;) Here's a little reminded that you should take the time each and every day to really appreciate and love yourself and then just add a teeny bit more on Valentine's Day- we all deserve love and to feel special.

If you're single today, it also just might be your last Valentine's Day alone! How wild is it to think of that? I saw someone on TikTok share today that if you haven't found the one yet, your person's also out there right now wishing and waiting to buy flowers for you- how sweet is that! You've gotta love love, ya'll.

Now it's time to end the day with a little r&r and maybe a fun rom-com? Robert Palmer's "Best Day of My Life" has also been all over my TikTok this week so now all I can think about watching is A Cinderella Story. Love ya mean it!

How'd you spend today?? LMK!

MINI AMAZON SKINCARE HAUL

This month I've been working to replenish my skin with lots of extra hydration and moisture. I made the mistake of derma planing a few weeks ago when my skin was on the dry side which resulted in even more dryness and lots of redness and irritation. I was running low on my hyaluronic acid serum and moisturizer (both of which I love + highly recommend) so I thought I'd try out some new products with a few added ingredients to help calm and restore my skin.

After hearing a lot of positive reviews on this TIRTIR Milk Skin Rice Toner, I purchased it as a first step post-cleanse for my daytime routine. It's a hydrating toner with niacinamide (vitamin B3) which has a lot skin benefits such as treating acne and inflammation to targeting wrinkles. The toner also contains rice bran, ceramides and some other ingredients to help deeply moisturize and brighten the skin.

For even more added hydration, I also picked up this ANUA Rice Ceramide 7 Hydrating Barrier Serum to layer on top of the milk toner. This one has a few similar ingredients including rice extract and niacinamide, however it also has hyaluronic acid, honey extract and glycerin.

To seal all of the moisture in, I wanted to try out this Minimalist Face Moisturizer for Dry Skin. It seemed like a good layering option for daytime with 5% Marula Oil and hyaluronic acid.

I started using these three together in the mornings after cleansing (lately I've just been using my micellar water + a cotton pad so I don't over wash my skin) and before applying my tinted SPF. I noticed an immediate difference after two or three days in my skin and it's done a complete 360, ya'll. All of the dryness is gone and it looks so vibrant and glowy! I even had someone compliment my skin this week and say that I had a glow going!

So far I'm super impressed and excited to keep trying these out. Compared to a lot of the skincare I typically buy, they were also very affordable (especially the moisturizer- it's like $7!). As of now, I definitely think they're worth trying if you're needing some extra hydration. I also have very sensitive skin and I haven't found them to be irritating at all. I'll continue to keep using them and will update you again a little later on!
